New Hospice Casa Sperantei palliative care center opens in Bucharest
Hospice Casa Sperantei Foundation recently opened a new center in Romania’s capital, five years after the start of the project. The center required an investment of over EUR 5.7 million, all of which came from donations. It’s the first and only unit with integrated services for palliative medicine in Bucharest.
At full capacity, the center will provide free palliative care every year for 2,000 patients suffering from incurable diseases.
Four doctors are currently working in the new center, together with 13 nurses, 13 social workers, a psychologist, a physical therapist and spiritual counselor. The center is located at 121-123 Tamaioarei St., close to the PLumbuita lake in Eastern Bucharest.
Hospice Casa Sperantei was founded in 1992 in Brasov, central Romania, as the first Romanian charity dedicated to improving the care of terminally ill patients and their families.
