Record crops for Romania this year, despite bad weather
Romania has seen one of the best agricultural years in 2014, despite the bad weather: local farmers harvested 7.37 million tons of wheat and barley, slightly above the 2013 crop. The rape seed production exceeded 1 million tons this year, a record since 1970, the Agriculture Ministry has announced.
The heavy rains in June posed problems for the wheat crop, but were beneficial for corn and sun flower crops, “and we hope to be again Europe’s champions,” said Agriculture Minister Daniel Constantin. However, farmers complain of the low quality of the harvested wheat, because of the rain.

With agricultural production drop across the board, Romania ranks low in EU on crops yield
